THE WELLNESS INDUSTRY IS EXHAUSTING. IT'S YOUR HEALTH & YOUR RULES - EVERYONE ELSE CAN TAKE A SEAT!

I’m probably going to get some backlash from this, but my give a cares are pretty much gone at this point in my life.

I check social media platforms pretty frequently to see what topics are trending in health and wellness. I feel like it’s not only important for me to keep up with my formal continuing education but to also see what people are thinking outside of a course or a classroom.

To say we have problems in this country, and as a society, would be an understatement. We have huge SYSTEMIC issues around healthcare, wellness, disease management and prevention, weight loss, etc. The list is utterly exhausting.

Every person has their own ideas and opinions on what health and wellness look like to them. It might mean the absence of disease (ex. heart disease) or no chronic health concerns (ex. high blood pressure). It might mean a certain number on the scale, the range of your biometric markers (blood pressure, cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels), or your ratio of body fat to muscle.

No matter how YOU define health and wellness, the point is….ALL THAT MATTERS IS HOW YOU DEFINE IT!

My job as a Health Coach isn’t to TELL YOU what your health and wellness should look like, or what your definition should be. My job is to help you get there.

  • To help YOU define it, not me.
  • To help you create a plan to get there, not force you to follow MINE.
  • To help you set goals, choose which actions will help you accomplish those goals, and set those actions in motion.
  • To go over the mindset work you need to forge ahead with your new actions until they become habits, and help navigate obstacles as they arise.
  • To help you stay accountable, offer support, and help you remain motivated to continue your journey.

This is going to sound callous, but I want to be rightly understood – I don’t care how much you weigh. I’m overweight, but you would be surprised at the amount of muscle mass I have.

I don’t care if you’re thick or thin. I don’t care if you eat pizza every day or kale salad. I don’t care if you run marathons or only run when wild animals are chasing you. I don’t care if you can lift 200 pounds or 20 pounds.

I'm here to guide you through. To share what I know and what I'm learning. To tell you what's working for me or other clients if you ask.

I write blog posts, I write newsletter articles (Substack), I write guides, I write Ebooks, I created a course, and I'm even working on ANOTHER comprehensive, ALL-INCLUSIVE course to help in any way I can.

In MY ideal world, we busy moms aren’t just “skinny”….we’re POWERFUL. We are strong. We carry ourselves with confidence and STRENGTH. We walk into a room like we OWN it, no matter what size we are.

I know women who are thin and look “healthy” with major health issues; and I know women who are large with great biomarkers and zero health issues.

So, when I say I don’t care what you weigh, or what size you are, I mean it.

The ONLY thing I care about is helping busy moms reach their health and wellness goals, WHATEVER THEY MAY BE! If it means we go over your food choices bite by bite, fine. If it means you want to take up knitting to relieve your stress, also fine….we’ll work on a plan to make that happen for you.

But it is time to respect that health and wellness are different for everyone, and unless it’s a conversation happening between you and your healthcare professionals, it’s no one else’s business what that looks like.

THE HEALTH LOOP YOU DIDN’T EVEN KNOW YOU WERE IN….

Well, that’s not entirely correct. You probably KNOW you’re in it, you’re just not sure what to do about it or how to get OUT of it. Let me explain. In this article I talked about five top health issues we face as busy moms: weight loss, stress management, sleep deprivation, dealing with mom guilt, and struggling with life balance. And the truth is, all of these health issues can be interconnected in ways we aren’t even aware of. You’re a busy mom. You’re going to have a hectic schedule. That can lead to sleep deprivation, which can lead to stress or weight gain (or both), which can lead to more sleep deprivation, which circles back to mom guilt for being tired and cranky and stressed out, and you’re trying to find a way to balance it all…. Sound familiar? In the article , I mentioned that an easy first step is to just Start Small . Have one glass of water. Take a 5-minute walk. Do 5 squats while you’re waiting for the microwave. Eat one piece of fruit. Just one little thing...

THE BREAKDOWN DAY - (warning, kinda personal)

We all have them. We’re busy moms, holding life together by a thread. You’ve had a series of THINGS happen. And by the way, it’s a BIG misconception, that it just came out of nowhere. No, it didn’t. This meltdown has been building up over time, like lava beneath the earth’s surface. The “things” can be big or small, it really doesn’t matter. It’s just a bunch of issues over time that build and build. You may have had moments where you thought you had dealt with them. But in reality, you were probably just dealing with PIECES of the issue, and the rest was getting shoved aside to be handled another time. Only, you’re a BUSY MOM! “Another Time” rarely comes. You’re pushing ahead through the next thing and the next. I’m just going to use my example really quickly because I know EVERYONE’S situation is different. Perimenopause is causing a plethora of physical issues including night sweats, fatigue, sleep disruption, mood swings, weight gain, and others. Big Issue . Crazy sc...

EVEN AS A HEALTH COACH, ONE OF THE HARDEST LESSONS I’M STILL LEARNING

MY FOOD IS FOR NOURISHING MY BODY , and even though I’m ALLOWED to eat whatever I want, if I want my body to be well and function for me, I’ve got to give it what it needs. I’ve seen way too many posts about how “toxic” it is to chase being skinny, and trying to lose weight means you don’t love yourself enough as you are, or accept yourself for who you are. Fair enough. If that’s how you feel, I understand. I’m not suggesting anyone turn themselves inside out or upside down to chase a number on the scale or a certain size jeans. But I AM suggesting that if you want your body to function optimally, you have to nourish it with the foods it needs. Your body needs protein, it needs fats, it needs carbs (yes, really), it needs vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and water. The ratios in which your body needs these nutrients will vary, but you still need them. And I’ve been gaining a lot of clarity in the last few years as I’ve gotten older, learned more about health, nutrition, and ...
